This
exceptional villa sits at the top of a pretty village and has the most
fantastically picturesque location. We hope our pictures have done
something to capture this wonderful position but be assured this is rural
and traditional Crete at its best! Standing alone amidst pretty gardens and surrounded by olive groves Villa Kalithea, (which means good view!), overlooks a beautifully green valley with rolling hills and the peaks of the ‘White Mountains’ dominating the horizon in the distance. These uninterrupted views truly are outstanding and can be viewed from everywhere at Kalithea. The interior of Villa Kalithea is no less charming than its delightful position. and modern furnishings. Upstairs are two bedrooms (a twin and a double),
both with luxury ensuite bathrooms. The bedrooms share a large balcony
that looks on to the beautiful pool and gardens. Downstairs is a third
bedroom (also twin), another ensuite bathroom and an open plan kitchen and
dining area, that includes a dish washer, and a spacious living area with
comfy seating. French doors lead from the living area onto a large patio,
which also looks onto the pool and gardens and which, we are sure, will be
a favoured spot during your stay. The enticing pool is accessed directly
from the patio and overlooks the lush valley. A stone built BBQ sits at
the side of the house under another covered patio, which has further
seating. Sandy beaches can be found in the nearby seaside villages of Georgioupolis and |
Kalives,
both reached
in less than 15 minutes by car. Otherwise the area is filled with pretty
villages, where you will find ‘local life’ and some excellent tavernas
but, if you find it hard to tear yourselves away from this outstanding
setting you can order a Cretan ‘take away’ as Dimitris, Kalitheas’
owner, has prepared a small menu of home cooked dishes that can be
prepared, on request, by his mother, Stella, who lives in the village.
Take it from us a Greek mothers cooking is some of the best you will find! Villa Kalithea is also highlyrecommended in spring when the White Mountains are still snow covered and the vibrant displays of spring flowers abound in all directions! |
